agents: Laura Stratchan

interested in: Strachan Literary Agency is interested in strong, quality narrative writing, whether fiction or nonfiction: compelling stories, well told.

Fiction: Primarily literary fiction and upmarket commercial. In general no genre fiction, however will consider fiction with crossover potential if beautifully written.

Children's: High quality YA or middle grade fiction. No picture books.

What we don't handle: Most genre fiction (romance, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, thrillers) unless highly literary, Children's picture books, Poetry, Screenplays

June 1, 2009 update: I'm always looking for great literary fiction, but I'd love to see more narrative nonfiction -- books that take a deep look at a single, intriguing subject, usually with a definite narrative arc. The story, and the way the story is told, is just as important as the information conferred.
