About This Market

WordHustler is taking our writing contests to a whole new level with the debut of our Literary Storm Novel Contest. Submit the first 50 pages of your novel and you could win BIG! The details:

Official Judge: Literary Agent Danielle Chiotti of Upstart Crow Literary

Grand Prize: A Complete Manuscript Critique by Joyce Sweeney, who has helped 27 people get published! (Psst: this prize is worth over $500!) as well as publication consideration from brilliant indie press Flatmancrooked!

Second and Third Prizes: Barnes and Noble Gift Certificates

NEW BONUS PRIZE: The Top Ten Entries will ALL be considered for publishing by indie press Flatmancrooked!

Deadline: MIDNIGHT - February 26th, 2010

Entry Fee: $15

What to Submit: The first 50 pages of your finished novel, along with a cover letter. Manuscript critiques are also available for an additional fee of $25. Simply add $25 to the "Additional Fee" section of the checkout, bringing your total additional fees to $40, and our WordHustler Editors will provide you with a detailed critique of your first 50 pages. Novels must be fiction, about any topic. Middle Grade and YA novels are acceptable as well as adult novels.

Since you are submitting 50 pages, the WordHustler printing and shipping fee is $8.99, plus the $15 entry, which brings your contest entry total to $23.99.

Finalists and Winners will be announced by March 15th, 2010 and their names posted on WordHustlerInk.

TO ENTER: Upload your project to your Hustlefolio, then press "Enter This Contest" on this market listing. You will be taken to the Submission Wizard and walked through the process. Be sure to modify the "Additional Fees" section if you'd like a manuscript critique.

Official Rules and Regulations can be found here: http://wordhustlerink.wordhustler.com/2010/01/22/literary-storm-novel-contest-special-deadline-extension-feb-26-2010/

that's the way I understood it and withdrew my entry. -- kystorywriter, 02-16-2010

Am I correct that Wordhustler is charging their standard submission fees on top of the entry fee for their own contest? I am to pay Wordhustler, twice, to submit my work to Wordhustler? -- pkieffer, 02-12-2010
