Special Poetry Mini-Anthology to be included in the Jan 2009 issue courtesy of Guest Editor Halvard Johnson.

From Halvard: "For a third mini-anthology of poems, this time inspired by/responding to/related to Barbara Guest's poem "Eating Chocolate Ice Cream: Reading Mayakovsky" and/or the various wars/insurgencies/etc. going on in the world today, please send 1-6 poems and a brief bio to halvard@earthlink.net with the words "Big Bridge" followed by your own name clearly in the subject line. word count: <75 lines, submissions accepted: rolling submissions

Up to three pieces of poetry, or one short story or essay will be considered.

Submissions for the Spring 2009 issue will be accepted until December 31, 2008. For Poetry, submit up to 2 single-spaced pages (or 75 lines).

Instead of a cover letter, please tell Editors about yourself by completing the Writer's Background and Release Form. Include your name, address, phone number and e-mail address. Editors will confirm receipt of all submissions promptly, and will notify all authors to be included in the next issue, via e-mail only. Rejection notices are also sent via e-mail only. Acceptance or rejection notices may take up to twelve months depending on reading and publishing cycle for the year. Please be patient. Editors want to ensure that each of the submissions we receive gets full attention.

The Fairfield Review is currently published semi-annually. Editors try to read pieces as they are submitted, however, most of the review work happens after submission deadlines (currently at the end of September and March). While rejection notices are usually sent within three weeks of reading, acceptance notices may only occur near the end of the review cycle.

Mudlark is an online poetry journal that will consider accomplished work that locates itself anywhere on the spectrum of contemporary poetry practice. They are looking for not only poems, but essays that make people want to read and possibly write their own poetry.

Mudlark publishes in three formats: “issues” are the electronic equivalent of print chapbooks; “posters” are the electronic equivalent of print broadsides; and “flashes” are poems that have news in them, poems that feel like current events. The acceptance rate at Mudlark is low, very low; the rejection rate is comparably high.

Mudlark suggests you read an issue before submitting.
